ALAN responds to Oklahoma disaster needs

Listen to this article

In the wake of tornado disaster in Moore, Oklahoma, the American Logistics Aid Network will soon be requesting support of loaned material handling equipment.

“We are in communication with state, regional, and national Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs) as well as emergency management agencies,” said Jock Menzies, president of ALAN, a non-profit organization that engages the supply chain community in support of humanitarian relief efforts. “We are standing by to provide assistance for transportation services, staging areas, storage, expert advice, and other vital resources.”

To make in-kind donations of needed supply chain and logistics goods and services, visit www.alanaid.org/relief-needs.php. If you have equipment you would like to loan, please contact Kathy Fulton, Director of Operations, American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) at 863 668-4238 or email Kathy@ALANaid.org.

The team at American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) brings the supply chain community together to address this challenge. The volunteer, non-profit organization was formed to provide a primary point of contact for those in the logistics profession who are willing to provide disaster relief support in the United States. ALAN works in tandem with National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOADs) such as the Red Cross, Feeding America and the Salvation Army to provide much-needed support.

ALAN’s relief needs web portal serves as a clearinghouse for supply chain expertise, products, equipment, and services such as transportation, warehousing and material handling. Needs for these resources are posted on the portal in times of crisis. Whether a company can provide industry expertise, supplies, vehicles to haul them or local warehouse space to store them, it can match its resources with regional needs through the ALAN web portal.
