Trelar Logistics to tackle inefficiencies of global construction transportation market

FlexFleet Inc., a logistics platform for a highly fragmented segment of the construction industry has successfully raised a Seed investment of $2.1 million led by Foundamental Capital. FlexFleet is also announcing that it is changing its name to Trelar Logistics Inc.

Trelar will use this round of funding to accelerate product development, grow strategic partnerships, bolster marketing initiatives and expand its team in Austin, Texas.

With a focus on “Changing the Way Construction Moves” ™, the company was founded by Gary Clarke, former CEO of Hy9, and technology executive with a twenty-year career helping launch, and grow category-leading companies, and products at companies that include Netscape, USi, Hy9, Amazon, and others.

“Gary’s record of leading technology companies through high-growth phases provide the pillars of the company through a unique market strategy, his vision and proven abilities to execute is what captured our attention.” Said Patric Hellermann, Managing Partner of Foundamental Ventures. ™

The global construction industry is a $10 trillion market that remains highly fragmented, opaque and inefficient, with a set of challenges and opportunities that touch each market participant.

Trelar’s novel platform will increase capital performance, operating efficiencies, productivity, asset utilization, and visibility to improve profitability across the value chain.

“Most of the construction marketplace still relies on old technologies and inefficient workflows, while being hyper-local, highly fragmented, opaque, and tightly interdependent. Trelar’s vision is to advance its platform, applications, and tools to fundamentally transform a global industry that accounts for over 10% of the global GDP, The industry is ripe for a marketplace platform that increases asset utilization and drives job site productivity. Our platform integrates suppliers, contractors, supply chain logistics and services like finance and insurance to revolutionize the way construction moves.” Said, Mr. Clarke.

Trelar is also announcing the appointment of two senior executives joining the founding team. Ammad Jilani as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Laith Dahiyat as Chief Product Officer.

Ammad Jilian brings over 20 years of technical leadership and development experience to Trelar. He will report directly to Gary Clarke, Trelar’s president, and CEO. As CTO Ammad will be responsible for developing Trelar’s technology strategy, development, and product innovation. Gary said, “Ammad’s technical expertise and well-known mentoring experiences make him the ideal choice to lead Trelar’s technology team, strategy, and development.”

Laith Dahiyat has over twenty-one years of product management and global software development experience. Before joining Trelar, Laith was VP, Product at Assembla, a PE-backed leader in cloud source code security. Mr. Dahiyat has extensive experience in the digitization of transportation and logistics. He spent three years at uShip, helping build the largest transportation marketplace in the world. After uShip, Laith was Head of Product at Trucker Path- the #1 mobile app for long haul truckers. He holds a B.S degree in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary.

“I’m looking forward to contributing to Trelar’s development and success by delivering on the company’s vision to fundamentally change the construction industry,” commented Ammad. “Trelar’s creation of a next-generation logistics management platform – offering agents, brokers, and carriers a modern, robust, scalable and proven solution that is easily adaptable to each organization’s unique business. It’s this kind of innovative thinking and the opportunity to change how the industry uses technology to drive change that attracted me to Trelar.”

“Trelar is uniquely positioned to disrupt a critical segment of the construction industry that has been underserved by modern, transparent marketplaces,” said Dahiyat. “We’re ready to change that.”
