Crown Equipment helps WERC Conference attendees uncover material handling equipment utilization opportunities

Crown Equipment, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, recently shared best practices for maximizing forklift operator productivity and efficiency with attendees at this year’s Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) Conference in Orlando, Florida.

Lance Meyer, manager of Crown Insite™ technology advisors, Crown Equipment, discussed how an accurate, thorough understanding of daily warehouse activity can provide managers with the information they need to help reduce incidents and downtime, ultimately helping to improve the organization’s bottom line.

“Many of our customers have a great understanding of what tasks get completed throughout their operations each day, but they don’t necessarily know how their operators used their equipment to accomplish those tasks,” said Meyer. “Using a fleet and operator management system such as Crown’s InfoLink® to gather real-time data helps managers to have improved visibility throughout the entire operation and make informed short- and long-term decisions.”

Meyer’s presentation “Understanding Equipment Utilization” highlighted the relationship between technology and knowledge, as well as the role both play in creating a warehouse culture of safety, awareness and accountability. He also shared thoughts on the future role of telematics in material handling equipment and its potential as a central data hub in the warehouse.

According to the organization’s website, WERC offers resources that help distribution professionals stay at the leading edge including certification and assessment verification services, educational events, performance metrics for benchmarking, practical research, expert insights and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.
