Camso releases second animation video to educate on static electricity hazards

Camso has released a sequel to its first ever humoristic animation video –  Fixing the safety hazards of static electricity – as part of its ongoing efforts to educate general public on the static electricity hazards linked to non-marking forklift tires. This time the story takes place in Europe where the material handling industry is victim to the troubling rule of a highly damaging static villain.

“The humoristic video we released in March about the Solideal PON 775 NMAS received a very warm response in the industry and generated incredible engagement,” says Lysandre Michaud-Verreault, Communications and Marketing Manager – Material Handling at Camso. “We saw a great opportunity to create a sequel to this story for the launch of the Solideal RES Xtreme NMAS, a new patented non-marking anti-static tire destined for European markets.”

In the caricatured world portrayed, the material handling industry is, once again, shocked and scared as Static Hazard, the nasty villain sorely beaten by PON 775 NMAS in the first video, cowardly flees to the other side of the Atlantic. Over there, he’s able to retrieve all his static and insulating power and to carry on his reign of static tyranny. A new Saga begins as we see the emergence of the RES Xtreme NMAS, the anti-static resilient hero everyone in Europe has been hoping for.

“We kept the light, comical approach, which was a fantastic way to educate the general public on the issues of static build-up in non-marking tires, while adding a super hero touch to it. We threw in even more three-dimensional effects and endearing characters, for a sequel that gives place to greater action and imagination,” adds Michaud-Verreault.

An issue that still needs to be understood

For most people, static build-up is an invisible phenomenon. Unfortunately for anyone who works near a forklift running on non-marking tires, the likelihood of static shocks up to 50,000 volts represents a real safety issue. The silica used as a reinforcing filler in place of carbon black in non-marking tires is an insulator, meaning that static electricity generated by the friction is stored rather than dissipated. This leads to safety hazards such as:

  • Safety issues and operator injuries
  • Fires
  • Facility damages, outages and circuit damages.

In the short film, the new resilient hero joins forces with the PON 775 NMAS to resolve the static issues, but in real life the addition of the Solideal RES Xtreme NMAS to Camso’s portfolio makes it the only tire manufacturer to offer a complete range of solid non-marking anti-static forklift tires.
