Yale Materials Handling Corporation was recently named a 2015 Top Green Provider by Food Logistics for the third consecutive year. Yale received the award based on its commitment to reduce environmental impact by manufacturing sustainable materials handling equipment.

This year, Food Logistics acknowledged Yale for its Advanced Performance Power System (APPS) powered by lithium-ion battery technology – the first commercially available Underwriters Laboratory (UL) recognized lithium-ion battery pack in the forklift industry. Available on the Yale®MPB045VG walkie pallet truck, the lithium-ion battery delivers extended run time, excellent charging capabilities and small footprint, providing an efficient and productive power alternative for retail, beverage and food delivery applications. The new lithium-ion option is designed to last up to five times longer than traditional lead acid batteries, drastically reducing downtime and expensive battery replacements. The battery pack is completely maintenance free, meaning it does not require watering and contains no acid.

We’re honored to have Yale recognized as a Top Green Provider in the food and beverage industry,” said David McNeill, Manager of Product Strategy, Yale. “The new UL recognized lithium-ion battery pack offers a more productive work day for our customers, in addition to lower energy consumption and a cleaner working environment.”

The Top Green Providers focus on sustainability in the global food supply chain with profiles of companies who are exceeding industry standards in their sector. This year’s list includes grocers, 3PLs, cold storage providers, pallet and packaging manufacturers, software and technology companies, and others whose products and services are elevating sustainability to a competitive advantage in the industry.
