Industrial lighting specialist Larson Electronics has announced the release of a step up portable power distribution panel for operators needing to operate 480 volt equipment while only having 208Y electrical current available.

The MPD-45KVA-208Y-4X120-1X480-50AW from Larson Electronics is a temporary power distribution system that converts 208Y volts AC to 480 volts three phase electrical current. This system provides operators the ability to safely tap into common 208Y and distribute 480 volts AC the equipment. A 150 amp main breaker protects the primary 120/208Y panel and the step up transformer. A separate disconnect on the 480 volt secondary side enables the operator to kill power to the 480 volt line out whip, while keeping the 120/208Y panel and related 120 volt receptacles active. This configuration provides the operator with four 120 volt GFCI receptacles and one 10’ whip, rated for 50 amp 480 volt service. Unlike many portable power distribution boxes made of plastic and utilizing thin gauge, low grade metals in their construction, this unit is ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding conditions and heavy duty industrial applications. The transformer and load assembly is mounted on a 3/16” thick carbon steel mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to the standard 2” by 2” by 1/8” square carbon steel tubing frame, resulting in an extremely stable, durable and well protected power distribution platform. This cube style configuration is easy to move around the site and can be loaded easily on a truck or other conveyance with the distinctively placed pick eye on the center of the transformer or by the built in skid pockets.

“Larson Electronics customizes these power distribution systems to meet customer specifications,” said Rob Bresnahan. “These distribution systems are ideal for indoor and outdoor use and applications such as construction sites, plant maintenance, shows, exhibits, and shipyard operations.”
