Brady, a global provider of industrial and safety printing systems and solutions, announced that its Brady Safety Software and Services business released two new services: Arc Flash Risk Assessment and Arc Flash Audit. These new offerings bring Brady’s licensed engineers onsite to perform an arc flash risk assessment or audit the user’s current arc flash risk assessment, and identify areas for improvement.

“Beyond achieving compliance, performing and auditing your arc flash assessment takes time and resources,” saysTim Bandt, director of Client Services for Brady. “In addition, precision and regulatory knowledge is key when creating or auditing risk assessments. Our licensed engineers have the knowledge, skill sets and tools to help you ensure your assessments are accurate and compliant to protect your employees from the dangers of arc flash.”

After an initial kickoff meeting for the Arc Flash Risk Assessment, a licensed Brady engineer collects and audits arc flash program data, including electrical equipment, conductor lengths and ampacities, overcurrent protection device ratings and more. This data is entered into a power-system analysis software to create an electrical system single-line diagram. From there, Brady’s engineer creates a risk assessment report and installs the corresponding labels.

The Arc Flash Audit allows clients to proactively address arc flash to help them stay up-to-date, compliant and safe. A Brady engineer will come on-site to evaluate arc flash labeling, review the accuracy of previous arc flash assessments, review hazard assessment input data, review personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and more. This helps to ensure that assessments are up to date and in compliance with NFPA70E. After this review, the engineer will conduct employee interviews around procedures and training, and use this information to provide recommended next steps and detailed audit report.
