Crown Equipment Corporation announced that its Crown RM 6000 Series reach truck earned the prestigious GOOD DESIGN™ Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. This marks the third significant design award for the Crown RM 6000 and the 12th GOOD DESIGN™ Award for Crown Equipment. Selected as a winner in the industrial category for outstanding aesthetics and innovative design, Crown’s RM 6000 is the industry’s first pantograph reach truck that can reach 505 inches and deliver up to 1,000 pounds more capacity at height. It is equipped with forks that travel upward at a pace of 160 feet per minute. The truck also features a MonoLift® mast, which Crown’s design and engineering teams created to combine advances in truck geometry and mast rigidity and offer more load capacity at height. Elevated load sway is minimized through the use of a closed cross-section mast construction. Reduced mast sway and twisting results in less time waiting for the mast to steady and more time moving loads. The Crown RM 6000’s innovative variable side stance positions the operator for maximum effectiveness and forward/reverse visibility during travel and load handling functions. The truck’s superior visibility allows operators to work at optimal levels of efficiency, which in turn generates increased warehouse productivity, according to Tim Forlow, marketing product manager, Crown Equipment. According to The Chicago Athenaeum, the museum received submissions from several thousand of the world’s leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms “representing the most important and critical mass of influential corporations worldwide in the design industry from more than 48 countries.” In addition to the GOOD DESIGN™ Award, the Crown RM 6000 has been recognized with a Gold International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) and Core 77 Design Award.
