Colorado warehouse exec joins IWLA board of directors

Members of the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA), the resource for warehouse logistics, recently elected Doug Sampson, senior vice president and partner at Acme Distribution Centers, in Aurora, Colo., to a three-year term on the IWLA Board of Directors. Sampson’s position was formally announced during the IWLA Annual Business Meeting March 21 in Palm Springs, Calif.

Sampson, a longstanding IWLA member, serves as cochairman of the IWLA Legal & Insurance Committee and participates in the IWLA Governmental Affairs and Food Councils.   “Doug demonstrated great leadership on the IWLA Insurance & Legal Committee during an important year of revisions to the Warehouse Standard Terms and Conditions and IWLA’s sample warehousing contracts,” says IWLA President & CEO Steve DeHaan. “His dedication and ability to get the job done will add great value to the IWLA Board of Directors as we move into a new phase of strategic planning.”   With more than 35 years of experience in third-party logistics, today Sampson is responsible for company strategy, contracts, real estate and customer service for Acme.   “I’ve had many great mentors to learn from in this industry,” Sampson says. “And working with the supply chains of more than 900 companies throughout my career offers me insight into the industry’s evolution.”   Sampson is a past chairman and remains on the board of directors of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association where he has testified numerous times on important legislative issues within Colorado. In addition, he is also a participating member of the Warehousing Education Research Council (WERC), Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) and the Denver Transportation Club. Sampson also earned his CPIM and CSCP designations.   He holds bachelor’s degrees in finance and marketing with minors in accounting and economics from the University of Northern Colorado.
