The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) announced the first scholarship recipients in the newly established IBTTA Foundation Scholarship Program. The program provides scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing degrees in engineering; urban and regional planning; construction management; public administration; and other transportation-related fields.

The 2017 IBTTA Foundation scholarship recipients are:

  • Miranda Simon, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (May 2018), North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND
  • Andrew Bunn, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (May 2019), Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA

The IBTTA Foundation selected Bunn and Simon to receive scholarships based on a competitive process.

“We are thrilled to present these scholarships to support Miranda and Andrew in their studies.” said Patrick D. Jones, Executive Director and CEO, IBTTA. “Transportation is an exciting and growing field and we hope these scholarships will encourage the next generation of transportation leaders.”

John McCuskey, Chair of the IBTTA Foundation and Principal Consultant with WSP USA, said, “The IBTTA Foundation believes in investing in young people to foster growth and innovation in the transportation industry for generations to come.”

Miranda and Andrew are the very first recipients of the IBTTA Foundation’s scholarship program.  Each will receive a $5,000 scholarship to help pay for their undergraduate studies.

Miranda and Andrew will receive their scholarships during the Opening Ceremonies of IBTTA’s 85th Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia on the morning of September 11, 2017.

The IBTTA Foundation’s scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
