Yale wins green award for lift truck power innovations

Yale Materials Handling Corporation announces another accolade for the Yale® Power Suite, which provides the choice and guidance to help customers choose the best-fit motive power source to meet sustainability and operational goals. This lineup of power options earned the company a 2021 Green Supply Chain Award presented by Supply & Demand Chain Executive.

The Yale Power Suite provides a choice of lithium-ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells available across a comprehensive line of lift trucks, along with a more traditional lead-acid battery and internal combustion engine options. This broad availability of newer, advanced electric power sources can help operations comply with tighter emissions regulations, corporate directives, and strict hygiene standards by boosting efficiency and reducing harmful emissions.

“Warehouses face major challenges as costs, customer expectations and labor turnover continue to rise, all while government and corporate pressures to meet sustainability targets grow,” says Brad Long, Brand Manager, Yale Materials Handling Corporation. “With more choice than ever in lift truck power, operations need support to find the right solution for their needs and stay informed of the latest innovations in lift truck electrification.”

One recent innovation from Yale is the ERC-VGL series, a cushion tire counterbalanced lift truck designed around a factory-integrated lithium-ion battery. Rather than simply integrating a lithium-ion battery into a standard box-on-wheels counterbalanced truck design, Yale engineered the ERC-VGL from the ground up to capitalize on the smaller, lighter lithium-ion battery pack. In addition to the usual benefits like zero emissions and zero battery maintenance, the design offers a spacious compartment with a lowered floorplate for more headroom and increased freedom to position feet.
