Yale celebrates GOOD DESIGN award win for innovative reach truck

From SKU proliferation to rising land costs, warehousing operations require a solution designed to address industry challenges. The Chicago Athenaeum recognizes the Yale® MR14-25 moving mast reach truck as such a solution, naming it a GOOD DESIGN™ award winner in the industrial category.

The MR14-25 offers increased performance, maneuverability and stability to enable faster put away and retrieval times. The heavy-duty mast provides a lifting height of 41 feet at speeds up to 143 feet per minute, helping operations maximize the use of vertical warehouse storage. And the industry’s first premium touch-screen display offers operators constant visibility into operational status and enables them to choose between 180- and 360-degree steering at the touch of a button as they navigate increasingly tight aisles. The moving mast reach truck is also designed for simpler serviceability, with longer service intervals to help reduce downtime.

The industry’s first “Get Home” action can be activated even after all other functions have come to rest, enabling the operator to drive the truck to an appropriate service location. For cold storage applications, the MR14-25 can withstand temperatures as low as 22 degrees Fahrenheit below zero and offers an optional fully insulated cabin.

“As consumer demands evolve, so do the expectations for distribution and fulfillment operations,” says Chris Murtha, Brand Manager, Yale Materials Handling Corporation. “Our intense focus on industry drivers and the challenges of our customers resulted in designing this reliable moving mast reach truck capable of delivering high performance as operations adapt to serve changing requirements.”

The GOOD DESIGN Awards are presented by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Center for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies to honor the best talent in design and manufacturing worldwide. This win marks the third consecutive triumph for Yale. The winners include Google LLC, Nike, Inc., Ferrari S.p.A., Fitbit, Inc. and John Deere Construction & Forestry.
