The second topic in a new series of free webinars presented by the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) has been announced: “Supply Chain Labor Market Update” will be held on Thursday, December 10 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. The half-hour Solutions at WERC webinars are scheduled to run monthly in advance of the WERC 39th Annual Conference for Logistics Professionals. Each session gives participants a sampling of the types of educational content they will experience at the Annual Conference—to be held in Providence, Rhode Island on May 15-18, 2016.

Panelists presenting the Supply Chain Labor Market Update session are staffing experts Keith Wisner, Vice President of Supply Chain Analytics at EmployBridge and Brian Devine, Division Vice President of ProLogistix. The pair teamed up to conduct a survey of more than 3,800 warehouse employees from throughout the logistics industry to get their feedback on a broad range of workforce attraction, hiring and retention issues. Among them:

• What makes employees excited to come to work?
• How important are aspects such as advancement opportunities, recognition, pay rates, benefits, training and work environment to job satisfaction?
• What workplace factors enhance employee engagement?

“Today’s employers recognize that it’s absolutely critical to have the right people in place to create a purpose-driven organization and to boost productivity for better bottom-line performance,” says Wisner. “Understanding what motivates the current logistics workforce will help operations to minimize turnover, as well as improve hiring success rates.”

Webinar participants will gain insights to help them develop a strategic action plan for improving employee engagement, adds Devine. “We’ll be distilling the full report into the key takeaways to help hiring and operations managers gain a leg up on their retention practices based on insights from warehouse employees,” he says.

Advance registration for the Supply Chain Labor Market Update webinar is available here. For those who are unable to participate in the session, but wish to view the recording at a later date, all Solutions at WERC webinars will be posted on WERC’s YouTube Channel, as well as available via the WERC website, www.werc.org.

The planned schedule for the continuing series of monthly Solutions at WERC half-hour webinars is:

• Thursday, January 14, 2016
• Thursday, February 11, 2016
• Thursday, March 17, 2016
• Thursday, April 14, 2016
