WPRP shares top tips to enhance your Modex 2016 experience

Listen to this article

If you’re in the Material Handling or Logistics industries, you’re probably aware that MODEX 2016 is right around the corner. While there are only a handful of days before the show, it’s not too late to make sure you’re ready to optimize your experience there. We’ve been regular attendees of the show for several years now, so for those who are new (and not so new) to MODEX, we wanted to share a few of the “insider tips” we’ve adopted over the years that can help you get the best possible return on your MODEX investment.

Have a Networking Gameplan

MODEX is a great place to meet with industry peers for some valuable in-person communication, but to make sure you’re getting the most out of your networking opportunities, consider formulating a networking game plan before the show. This doesn’t have to be some sort intricate playbook that you’re going to spend the next several weeks memorizing; rather, the simpler, the better. A basic spreadsheet with contact names, as well as the times and locations at which you want to meet them will do fine. Also, don’t forget to let your friends in the industry know you’ll be there ahead of time and that they can expect to see you at the show. Proactive communication makes the meet-up process smoother for everyone.

Book MODEX meeting and conference rooms

With so many industry professionals in one place, you’ll want to make sure you set aside plenty of time to meet and connect with those you may not otherwise get to see in person. When you do, we’d recommend booking a conference room or table at the event center. Booking rooms on site saves time, effort and money, all of which are often in short supply if you’re optimizing your experience at Modex.

Meet at the bistro

Hungry? Need to recharge? Want to meet a few new people? Head to the on-site bistro. The MODEX bistro is the “Best place to eat, meet, & network at MODEX 2016.” Just as booking an on-site meeting room conserves precious time and resources, heading to the bistro for a bite to eat can be a time-saving, convenient alternative to going to an off-site restaurant. MODEX offers the option to reserve entire tables for exclusive use by purchasing 10 or 20 tickets, giving you and your group a space to eat, network and get ready for the next event.

Keep tabs on things via Twitter

You may not be heading to MODEX with tweeting as your primary objective, but Twitter is truly one of the best ways to stay on top of what’s going on at the show. By using hashtags to group conversations together, you can see the what’s going on all around MODEX in real time. Heading to an event? Send out a tweet so you can let other attendees know they can meet you there and keep them posted on what’s going on.

Try them out!

Of course, MODEX is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow your network whether you take advantage of our tips or not. However, if you do try them out for yourself, we think you’ll find they make your experience even more positive, your opportunities more plentiful and your time spent there more valuable.
