The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) will present three keynote sessions that attendees won’t want to miss this summer at the Safety 2025 Professional Development Conference and Exposition in Orlando.

The dynamic presentations help bring thousands of safety and health professionals together to discover personal and professional inspiration while learning something new to improve workplace safety and health. ASSP’s signature event is July 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center.

Safety 2025 is a vibrant learning and networking experience that highlights best practices, industry trends and the latest product innovations. The conference features keynote sessions, more than 200 continuing education sessions and a vast expo showcasing innovative products and services. Safety professionals from around the world gain practical knowledge and trusted guidance they can immediately put to use at their organizations.

Here are summaries of this year’s highly anticipated keynotes:

  • The Opening General Session from 8-9:30 a.m. ET on July 22 features Shasta Nelson, a leading expert on relationships. For more than 15 years, she has translated the science of human connection into actionable strategies that help individuals and organizations build high-trust, resilient and rewarding relationships. Her work has empowered companies like Google and LinkedIn to improve employee retention, engagement and collaboration. Nelson has delivered more than 500 keynotes, and her first TEDx talk has gained nearly 1 million views. She has been featured in the New York Times and on The Today Show.
  • “The Silent Hazard: Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and the Role of EHS Professionals” from 1-2 p.m. ET on July 23 is a panel discussion moderated by Linda Tapp, CSP, ALCM, CPTD, the Society’s 2025-26 president. The panel will discuss how mental health issues are contributing to a growing crisis that directly impacts worker safety, especially in the construction industry where the suicide rate is four times higher than the general population. Attendees will learn practical strategies to recognize warning signs, reduce lingering stigma and integrate suicide prevention and mental well-being into safety programs.
  • The Closing General Session from 2:30-3:30 p.m. ET on July 24 features Liz Bohannon, a leading workplace connection expert and best-selling author. Drawing from her experience as an entrepreneur, she equips teams to design work environments that prioritize human connection and empower people to go faster and further together. Bohannon has a refreshing perspective that disrupts conventional organizational thinking, inspiring teams to unleash their full potential. She offers actionable strategies to create authentic, relationship-driven organizations where every person feels valued and supported.
