Discovery Robotics Corporation announced that it has finalized an exclusive supply contract with the Diversey Care Division of Sealed Air Corporation .  The contract covers Discovery Robotics’ model FX250 industrial-grade floor cleaning robot intended for large public spaces such as airports and convention centers.

Under the agreement, Diversey will have the exclusive license to sell, distribute, train and service the FX250 robot in the Americas and Europe.  Diversey will have non-exclusive rights in all other global territories.  Discovery Robotics will spend much of 2017 performing field trials of the FX250 robot and gearing up production in Pittsburgh.  Shipments are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter 2017.

Kent McElhattan, President and CEO of Discovery Robotics said, “We’re proud to be associated with Diversey and are committed to working with them as they execute on their robotics game plan.  We couldn’t have a better strategic partner.  It’s an exciting step for our company and for the Pittsburgh robotics community overall as we source local hardware and contract services.  This partnership will increase productivity and reliability for organizations that want to keep their floors in top condition.  Just as important to us, it will reduce the high rate of musculoskeletal injuries suffered by workers in the cleaning industry. ”

Thomas Boscher, General Manager of Intellibot Robotics at Diversey said, “We’re delighted to be partnered with Discovery Robotics.  They have developed a unique strategy for integrating cutting edge robotics technology with a seasoned, mature systems approach.  We’ve been impressed by their commitment to excellence in every detail and look forward to a long mutually productive relationship.”

Further terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
