LGH Australia 2025

LGH announced major move into Australian market

LGH (Lifting Gear Hire) has officially launched in Australia. Headquartered in Somersby, Central Coast, New South Wales, the Australian business will offer a broad range of core rental equipment, including hoists and clamps, jacking products such as hydraulic rams, rigging equipment including slings and modular spreader beams, and general material handling gear. The initial focus will be the New South Wales region, but the fleet will be available nationally.

LGH serves virtually every industry with a need to move heavy loads across Europe and North America. Australia was a prime target for expansion due to its similar market sizes in the construction, infrastructure, mining, energy, petrochemical, marine, and offshore sectors. Although hiring equipment is not unknown in this market, the eight-strong launch team are focused on delivering LGH’s long-standing commitment to provide expert technical know-how, the highest level of customer service and top-quality equipment to contractors.

LGH has continued to work with their trusted long-term supply partners, including national manufacturers SpanSet and Durapac, and global suppliers such as Tiger Lifting, JD Neuhaus, and Modulift. Each one is carefully selected for their commitment to high quality, performance, service, innovation, and safety standards.

Since its launch in 1970, LGH has grown into a multinational company. It has extensive operations in the UK, North America, and Europe. It is dedicated to ensuring quality and satisfaction, providing only the safest and most reliable equipment, delivered with service and expertise that customers can rely on.

Ian Parkinson, chairman, commented: “Our expansion into Australia is the biggest step the business has taken since expanding outside of the UK to open our first rental hub in Chicago, USA in 1990. LGH has always been focused on growth and expansion, which has been an important component for our current and future success. The international territories we operate in are places of strong industrial activity where there is a highly-regulated approach to health and safety, so Australia has naturally been a target for future operations. Not only is the economy growing, but investment in the country’s infrastructure, manufacturing, construction, and defence sectors continues to be robust, so we believe that we can play our part in helping these dynamic sectors to thrive.”

Ian added: “Also, the lifting gear market is well-developed throughout the country, and our aim is to forge rock-solid relationships with the trade as firms look to broaden their re-rental options.

Ian concluded: “We would have loved to come to Australia sooner, but we knew the timing and the level of investment had to be right. From our 55 years of experience in very competitive North American and European markets, LGH now brings skills, experience, and the highest-quality equipment and service to Australia”.
