With President Biden’s signature, State DOTs ready to implement Infrastructure Bill

The following is a formal statement from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials upon the President’s signature of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Jim Tymon

“Today, President Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law, providing resources for the much-needed long-term investments in our nation’s infrastructure,” said Jim Tymon, AASHTO executive director. “State departments of transportation applaud Congress and the President for getting this important piece of legislation to the finish line, as it provides historic funding increases for federal highway, transit, highway safety, and rail programs and directly addresses equity, climate change, system resiliency, bridge investment, and project delivery and environmental review processes.

“AASHTO and state DOTs look forward to working with our partners at USDOT to implement the law as soon as possible. State and local transportation agencies are eager to get to work on the multi-modal projects that will provide real benefits to the people of every community across the country.”
