ESPR supported and digital product passports issued by YOKE

YOKE Industrial Corp. has implemented Digital Product Passports (DPP) across its entire range of lifting and rigging products to comply with the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

YOKE manufactures lifting chain fittings and other equipment, integrating RFID chips into each item. This allows users to access a Digital Product Passport (DPP) with lifecycle information like material composition and maintenance guidelines. The DPP promotes compliance, transparency, and resource efficiency for a circular economy.

Upcoming EU regulations require digital certifications and manuals for products. The ESPR regulation further emphasizes product sustainability, circularity, and energy performance, replacing the Ecodesign Directive. YOKE supports these regulations and has been promoting RFID and SaaS in the lifting industry for compliance and traceability.

YOKE’s entire product line has been integrated with radio frequency identification (RFID) chips.

YOKE uses NFC RFID chips, accessible via mobile phones, to provide DPP information without needing a separate app. The accompanying app offers additional asset management features. Each product gets a unique DPP at manufacturing, enabling access to complete product information. The chips and tags undergo rigorous testing for impact, wear, temperature, water ingress, and other factors.

YOKE argues that digital technology provides more accurate and updatable data than traditional hard labels, which are prone to wear and fading. This shift improves data management, reduces waste, and supports a circular economy and sustainable development.
