The UB-LL ultra-bright LED line light delivers 2.5 million lux and uniform illumination for demanding machine vision applications.

Metaphase Lighting Technologies will showcase the latest design of its UB-LL LED line light at Automate 2025. Delivering up to 2.5 million lux in a narrow, structured beam of high-intensity illumination, the UB-LL is the brightest passively cooled line light available on the market today.

“Metaphase customers have consistently called for more configurable line lights that pair higher brightness with greater dependability,” said Kevin High, president of Metaphase Lighting Technologies. “With our latest UB-LL design, we’ve pushed illumination intensity to unprecedented levels for a fanless lighting solution to achieve a bright, highly reliable, and very adaptable illumination source for machine vision applications.”

Though active cooling options are available to enable brighter output or withstand harsh environments, passive cooling comes standard for the UB-LL to improve energy efficiency and reliability over the light’s 75,000-hour expected lifetime.

The UB-LL’s field-changeable focused or collimated beam configurations feature seamless lensing and tailorable focal distances. Combined with the light’s high-intensity output, this delivers supremely uniform illumination to optimize high-contrast image capture within the narrow fields of view of today’s line scan cameras.

The latest design of Metaphase’s UB-LL line light also delivers a versatile range of options and features that address a wide variety of machine vision challenges.

Available as either a single- or multicolor LED light source, the UB-LL can incorporate LEDs emitting UV, visible, or infrared wavelengths, with additional white light and shortwave infrared options available. Metaphase offers the light in lengths from 5 inches to 10 feet, with multiple cover, diffuser, and backlighting options to accommodate the needs of different vision applications.

Used as a front light, for example, its high brightness enables detailed inspection of material defects in printed circuit boards and other finely detailed items. When angled to deliver an off-axis effect, the light’s excellent uniformity highlights defects in smooth surfaces or enables accurate geometry measurements of long targets. Placed beneath or behind imaged objects, the UB-LL serves as a backlight to reveal holes or voids in high-speed web inspection applications.

The company will feature the UB-LL LED line light with its other industry-leading machine vision illumination solutions at Automate, Booth 7023. The event is at Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan, from May 12 to 15.
