Columbus McKinnon Corporation, a designer and manufacturer of motion control products, technologies, and services for material handling, has announced the new IMPULSE®·Link 5 Professional software as the latest addition to its portfolio of drive diagnostics tools. IMPULSE·Link 5 enables easy programming, monitoring and troubleshooting of industry-leading Magnetek® brand AC and DC drives from a PC.
“IMPULSE·Link 5 provides easy-to-access system monitoring and diagnostics information no matter where you are, whether a single crane or multiple cranes are operating,” said Casey Cummins, product manager for Magnetek controls. “Utilizing the Professional version of our IMPULSE·Link 5 drive diagnostic tool means customers will be able to remotely monitor, diagnose, or reset an AC or DC drive fault in real time from the factory floor.”
Available in two versions, Professional and Viewer, IMPULSE·Link 5 is a Windows-based interactive drive software that supplies critical information to keep systems functioning effectively. Ethernet communication is 50% faster than previously available tools, providing actionable information quickly. System feedback means maintenance can be planned to minimize downtime and enhance drive efficiency.
Offering a direct connection to Magnetek brand drives, IMPULSE·Link 5 Professional includes a new automatic drive discovery tool for simple setup, operating over wireless industrial communications and hardwired serial COM ports. This the one-to-one link between drives and a PC is a key factor in improving safety and performance. IMPULSE·Link 5 Professional enables a comprehensive set of interactive features that can be unlocked with a low-profile USB key. Plus, troubleshooting is quick and easy, eliminating the need to diagnose and reset a fault from the crane itself. The free Viewer version offers basic features such as viewing parameter, trend, and event files, and interfacing with the DataLogger Series 4 (DLS4).
Optional Wireless Diagnostic System (WDS) hardware is available to connect to and monitor drives wirelessly. WDS enables connection of up to 31 drives to a single remote unit. Multiple remote units can connect to a single base unit. IMPULSE·Link 5 supports IMPULSE®·G+/VG+ Series 3 and 4, IMPULSE®·G+ Mini Variable Frequency Drives, IMPULSE®·D+ HHP, OmniPulse™ DDC Series 1 and 2, OmniPulse™ DSD, and MagnePulse™ DMC Series 1 and 2.
