Members of the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA), the resource for warehouse logistics, recently elected Scott Mayfield, president of Kenco Management Services, LLC, to a three-year term on the IWLA board of directors. Mayfield’s position was formally announced March 10 during the IWLA annual business meeting.
“Scott’s background in human resources and management are important skillsets that will benefit the IWLA Board of Directors. As a board member, we will look to Scott’s strong leadership experience to guide the association in new, more profitable directions,” says IWLA President & CEO Steve DeHaan. Mayfield has served on the executive committee of the IWLA Insurance Company (IWLA-IC) board since 2013, and is the risk chairman for the IWLA-IC. He is a member of the Global Supply Chain Advisory Board of Brigham Young University and a board member to Junior Achievement of Chattanooga, Tenn. He is a past board member of the Rutgers University Center for Supply Chain Management. From 2005 to 2009, as vice president of human resources, Mayfield transformed a fragmented human resources department into one that streamlined recruitment, talent management and training, employee relations, payroll, and benefits for more than 5,000 permanent and temporary staff members across North America. He also created new department initiatives including reducing healthcare costs, proactively reducing equal employment opportunity lawsuit susceptibility via frontline manager training, increasing Kenco’s 401(k) participation, implementation of an integrated human resources system, training and development of targeted leadership potentials, and partnering with a temporary staff vendor to meet short-term labor needs at the site level. Kenco Management Services is one of five operating companies that comprises the privately owned Kenco Family of Companies based in Chattanooga, Tenn. The privately owned third-party logistics provider specializes in distribution and fulfillment, comprehensive transportation management, material handling services, real estate management and information technology. As president, Mayfield provides senior leadership management of best practices in quality and engineering, risk management, procurement, internal communications, legal, and information technology.
Mayfield began his career in the warehouse logistics industry when he joined Kenco in 1999. His management positions with various divisions include Kenco Toyota Lift, Kenco Group Inc., and Kenco Management Services (KMS). Prior to coming on board with Kenco, he worked for the state of Utah. Mayfield has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University.
