International Warehouse Logistics Association, the resource for warehouse logistics, announced a new fundraising campaign in honor of the association;125th Anniversary: IWLA is committing a $25,000 to the American Logistics Aid Network each year through 2018. IWLA is asking its warehouse and partner members to pledge their commitment as well.

“IWLA recognizes the ALAN’s accomplishments activating supply chain partners in times of emergency or disaster. We want to support those efforts in a more profound way,” says IWLA President & CEO Steve DeHaan. “As an association it is important to communicate the value of ALAN to our members and make it easy for them to make a commitment to donate to this worthy cause.   “Our industry is uniquely equipped to help with disaster recovery. We have the space, the material-handling equipment, and the transportation assets to get supplies where they are needed most. We need to be the lifeline that organizations like ALAN rely on, because we never know when or where the need will be,” DeHaan says.   Through the years, many IWLA members have donated time, equipment, facilities, and services. The IWLA Board knows members will also step up to pledge a financial commitment through this campaign. View the campaign video.   In order for these funds to have maximum impact, IWLA leaders encourage their warehousing peers to take the next steps:

  • Make a financial donation to ALAN today.
  • Make their times and services available to ALAN requests or calls in times of need.
  • Provide assistance and resources when they are able.
  • And actively encourage industry peers to help in recovery efforts.

“As much as 80 percent of disaster recovery expenditures go toward transporting, warehousing, and distributing goods and services to affected communities,” says Florida-based Kathy Fulton, ALAN executive director. “That’s why supply-chain resources and expertise can make a critical difference during disasters. ALAN relies on a network of volunteers who have the tools to help and respond quickly, and building that network with IWLA is an invaluable resource.”   There are times when the need is so great that financial assets are necessary. Fulton says the IWLA Fundraising Campaign will help stabilize assets and increase security for the next humanitarian crisis.   Click here to donate. Beginning in 2017, IWLA members can opt-in to have a percentage of their membership dues go directly to ALAN.
