Stahlin® enclosures takes a trip back to the future, honoring its Hollywood Cameo In an electrifying intersection of industrial manufacturing and pop culture, Robroy® team members Stephanie Ellis, Director of Marketing, and Joshua Bumpas, Marketing Project Manager, traveled to Dallas Fan Expo to meet members of the “Back to the Future” cast and have a special Stahlin enclosure signed. Stahlin Enclosures had an important yet often unrecognized role in the iconic sci-fi film series. The company’s JW Series electrical enclosure served as the housing for none other than the flux capacitor — the fictional device that made time travel possible in Doc Brown’s DeLorean. Stahlin’s J121006HPLW07 enclosure was the original model used to house the iconic flux capacitor in the beloved 1985 film. The on-screen unit has long been recognized by fans, and to honor that portion of Stahlin’s history, the company recreated the flux capacitor in the late 1980s. It has proudly remained on display at the company’s Belding, MI, location for almost 40 years. “Knowing that something we built became part of such a legendary film feels surreal,” said Stephanie Ellis. “Stahlin has long been known for its commitment to quality and its products’ ability to stand the test of time. This piece has become more than a display — it symbolizes our team’s pride in making products that safeguard important electrical components, even during fictional time travel. To have it personally autographed by the cast is an incredible moment of recognition and gratitude for our company’s legacy.” During the expo, Ellis and Bumpas had the opportunity to meet nine cast members from the film, including Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Elisabeth Shue, Tom Wilson, Claudia Wells, Donald Fullilove, James Tolkan, and musician Huey Lewis. Additionally, fans of the franchise in attendance were impressed by the replica’s authenticity and the story behind it. “As a long-time fan of ‘Back to the Future,’ I was delighted to discover when I first began working at Robroy that a Stahlin enclosure was used in the film,” said Joshua Bumpas. “Sharing this insight with fellow fans was a fantastic experience, and I was touched by the enthusiasm shown by members of the cast during our exchanges. I hope having this signed replica showcased in our facility will inspire future generations of Robroy employees to keep leading the way.” The original enclosure model has since evolved, with a design update in the mid-1990s transitioning the gasket and window style to a flush bonded window. The part still exists today in the Stahlin catalog as model JW1210HPL, continuing the tradition of innovation and performance that began decades ago. This signature moment ties past and present together, celebrating a cinematic classic and the real-world product behind it — a true example of Stahlin’s reputation for dependable, time-tested protection.

EDC announces the ongoing certification achievements of its engineers in UL, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Ignition, and other critical areas, highlighting their commitment to safety, security, and technical proficiency. Electronic Drives and Controls, Inc. has announced the UL508A recertification of Anthony Fasolo. The UL508A certification is an accreditation for industrial control panels which ensures that the panels meet comprehensive safety and performance standards set by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a global safety science leader. UL508A-certified companies can mark a panel as UL-certified, a guarantee for clients that the panels used in their operations comply with the stringent requirements in safety, reliability, and quality. This reduces the risk of electrical hazards and enhances overall operational safety and reliability. Chuck Dillard, Vice President of EDC, emphasized the significance of the UL certification. “The UL508A recertification is a testament to our rigorous standards and commitment to delivering safe and reliable control panel solutions. This certification not only assures our clients of our technical proficiency but also demonstrates our adherence to the highest safety standards in the industry.” In addition to the recent UL508 recertification, EDC engineers have achieved and maintained certifications in Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Ignition, and CSIA, among others. Further information on these certifications can be found here. Ed Sefcik, Engineering Manager at EDC, elaborated on the importance of Rockwell certification. “Maintaining the Rockwell Automation certification keeps us current on any changes and ensures we maintain a high level of knowledge of those products.” He further added of the CSIA certification, “The CSIA certification process challenges our organization to deeply evaluate our processes, instilling discipline and promoting continuous improvement.” Among other things, CSIA certification ensures that clients receive full documentation and have access to system backups, providing peace of mind and reliability in their operations. Regarding safety and security certifications, Paul Rosato, EDC’s Safety Coordinator, stated, “There’s no mission greater than safety. We want our team to return home safely every day. This commitment to safety and conscientiousness is the foundation of everything we do.”

Tele Radio has reminded the industry of the benefits of two handheld radio remote controls specifically for the demands of lifting and hoisting applications. The T19-2 and T29-12 joined the company’s Panther line of products, which all meet Performance Level d (PLd), Category 3, equivalent to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2. This makes them suitable for use in high-risk areas such as those with moving and heavy loads. Tele Radio, part of Sweden’s Allgon Group, offers a wide variety of handheld transmitters and larger-size waist belt transmitters for all kinds of industrial applications. However, the T19-2 and T29-12 present a variety of benefits to end users operating cranes and hoists, largely because of their conformity to relevant standards and certifications, and the fact that they are lightweight, easy to handle, and cost-effective. KeesJan van der Elst, Market Manager at Tele Radio, said: “Both transmitters are popular in the marketplace due to their high safety and quality at a competitive price. They are easy to set up for specific applications, and are widely used to control jib cranes, overhead cranes, loader cranes, and other overhead lifting equipment.” The T19-2 has eight buttons, while the T29-12 is a 12-button version; the latter can control up to 24 different functions, but this can become 4 x 24, through the ‘layer selection’ option. The additional buttons mean the T29-12 can even be used for the safe control of more advanced machinery, like recovery vehicles and excavators. These buttons have three steps: off, half, and full. A broad offering of accessories and a 500m wireless range, depending on the surrounding environment, means the applications for each transmitter are limitless. Both transmitters work on rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and are equipped with robust housing with a protective bumper and are water resistant according to IP65. They work on the worldwide accepted 2.4 GHz frequency and, thanks to advanced technology, interference is minimal. It is also possible to create a group code, through which multiple transmitters can control a single receiver. Van der Elst said: “The Panther systems include several three relay crane controls and can be fitted with standard harnesses and connectors for various types of cranes and lifting equipment. In addition to the standard settings, advanced setups are possible through a USB connection with a personal computer. A separate programming kit is available [from Tele Radio] to set up the Panther PLd to a user’s specific needs.” Another standout feature of the Panther is the ability to pair the transmitter and receiver high in a crane from the ground. In other words, a transmitter, connected to a receiver that is mounted high in a crane, can be replaced and paired easily without climbing to the receiver and without opening it. It can be completed from the ground floor. This configuration is another example of the flexibility and user-friendliness of the products. While the transmitters are water resistant according to IP65, the receivers are protected by IP66, providing resistance to dust and water. Van der Elst added: “The Panther PLd systems are the clear choice for certified hoisting and lifting, where high performance is a requirement. Consider the accessories — holders, chargeable batteries, charging cables, straps, and covers — and it’s evident that both the T19-2 and T29-12 are perfect for the demands of lifting and hoisting applications in a multitude of end-user applications.”

Laser Tools Co., Inc. has introduced a new family of High-Powered Laser Docking Systems for loading docks and freight terminals. These new laser projectors are more powerful and produce laser spotlights visible in direct sunlight. This improves trailer movement, docking, safety, and management. How it works: Lasers are mounted on each side of the dock bumper and shine down the ramp in parallel. Drivers backing down center their trailers between the lines so the trailer is positioned center to the dock. The laser spotlight is visible during direct sunlight and the laser lines are seen on the ramp in low light conditions. Rain, snow, mud, and fog will actually improve laser line viewability. The Model GLX60 family of Laser Docking Systems is AC or DC-powered. Remote control options, weatherproof enclosures, and different color lasers for industrial applications like warehouse aisle striping and exclusion safety zone management are available.

The 92W Series Power Clamp saves costs, CO2 and energy on the way to Industry 4.0 DESTACO, a provider of automation, clamping, and gripping solutions, has introduced the new intelligent 92W Series Electric Power Clamps. Operating completely without compressed air, the 92W power clamps set a new standard for efficient and environmentally friendly production operations. They reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions – and as a plug-and-play solution, they pave the way for exceptionally flexible production processes. “Electric drives have clear advantages over pneumatic drives,” explained Christian Schubert, Global Product Manager for DESTACO. “They reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs by up to 85%. Their use of electric motors helps eliminate the need for lossy compressed air lines and associated pneumatic equipment. Electric drives also offer a high degree of flexibility, which significantly reduces the need for an expansive spare-parts inventory.” The 92W power clamp’s integrated intelligence also reduces the need for additional components, as it provides essential data for process optimization even without external sensors. Even during installation, these values allow the user to conveniently adjust the speed, positioning and/or torque to “fine-tune” production. During subsequent operations, the values are used to analyze process quality. The control of the electric clamps is decentralized and attached directly to the production devices, which reduces cable lengths and cabling costs. In this way, all automation functions can be implemented decently. This not only frees up space, but also ensures seamless integration of the clamping technology into the production system. Reliable voltage, signal, and data management also facilitate digital planning, along with providing quick and easy installation and commissioning. All of these features save time and, together with process optimization, reduce labor costs. Higher initial investments are therefore amortized in one to three years, depending on the configuration. The advantages of the new 92W power clamps will be able to help many manufacturing companies switch their production from pneumatic to electric drives. Many innovative companies are already using the first 92W power clamp units in their production processes and achieving excellent results. The powerful 92W electric power clamps hold workpieces in several positions; for example, during the production and assembly of body shells. Thanks to the power clamp’s integrated component control, no external sensors are required. In combination with the unit’s integrated tolerance compensation, this enables the control and production of different component types. In parallel to the smart electric clamps of the 92W Series, further economical variants of the series are being launched to the market. DPE/RPE Grippers, GTB/RPE Servo Positioners, and EcoCup Vacuum Cups also feature the advantages of electric drives.
