Inbound Logistics magazine honored Hyster for expanding accessibility to lithium-ion power, high-capacity electric equipment with performance comparable to internal combustion engines Hyster announced its selection as one of 2025’s 75 Green Supply Chain Partners by Inbound Logistics magazine, marking the company’s sixth consecutive year on the list. The publication recognized Hyster for its recently launched onboard charging solution, which enables operations to charge lithium-ion trucks using commonly available electrical outlets, and the J230-400XD forklift series, an expanded line of heavy-duty trucks with integrated lithium-ion power and capacities of up to 40,000 pounds. “As businesses continue to seek cost-effective ways to reduce their emissions and boost productivity, our team has been hard at work to design and manufacture solutions that can handle the demands of any operation, whether they’re a small building materials operation or one of the world’s busiest ports,” says Josh Eby, Global Product Manager, Hyster. “This honor from Inbound Logistics recognizes the need for electric equipment in these applications, and we remain committed to delivering it every day.” The onboard charging option is available on several Hyster lift trucks with factory-integrated lithium-ion battery power and lift capacities ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 pounds. To connect with common, standard electric outlets, the solution includes a charging cable with a 240-volt 50-amp connection, adaptors for both 240-volt 30-amp and 120-volt 12-amp plugs, and an out-of-the-way storage bin is located to the left of the seat for all cables and adaptors. This charging flexibility makes lithium-ion-powered forklifts a stronger fit for applications with intermittent charging availability or lower-hour applications that do not require fast charging. It also enables businesses to rent electric forklifts without altering their electric infrastructure and allows for recharging via generator when power is unreliable or unavailable. The J230-400XD series is available with a range of battery sizes to match duty cycle and charging requirements, configurable up to 280kW. The 350-volt architecture offers long run times and minimizes energy loss without the additional cost and complexity of higher-voltage systems. In 2025, this line of integrated lithium-ion big trucks expanded to include load capacities up to 40,000 pounds. Like all Hyster electric big trucks, the J230-400XD trucks incorporate the Combined Charging System (CCS) as standard. This global electric vehicle charging standard enables operations to cost-effectively scale charging for multiple applications and types of equipment through a single, standardized charging connector that has been adopted across numerous industries and geographies. Equipped with the right battery pack and charger, and working in a typical duty cycle, a truck can add approximately an hour of work time from 11 minutes of charging at 90 kW.

Yale Lift Truck Technologies announces two prestigious industry awards for the ERP-VTL/VFL series of lift trucks with factory-integrated lithium-ion battery power. The trucks won recognition for outstanding green product design in the 2025 Green GOOD DESIGN® Awards and as an outstanding example of innovation that provides companies with energy and environmental benefits in the 2025 E+E Leader Awards. Rather than a battery box replacement, in which a standard counterbalanced lift truck design gets a lithium-ion retrofit, both the three-wheel ERP040VTL and the four-wheel ERP040VFL are engineered from the ground up around a fully integrated lithium-ion battery pack. This strategy not only provides the lasting performance and charging capabilities of lithium-ion power, it also enables a series of ergonomic advantages, including increased space in the operator compartment. “Manufacturing lift trucks around a fully integrated lithium-ion battery helps alleviate headaches for warehouses that might otherwise pursue an aftermarket retrofit to accommodate lithium-ion power,” says Brad Long, Global Activation Manager, Yale Lift Truck Technologies. “Beyond the performance benefits of electric forklifts, the ERP-VTL/VFL series also helps warehouses address labor challenges with key advantages for operator comfort. These recognitions are further proof that an innovative design approach can provide what these operations need to directly address these key challenges head-on.” The integrated lithium-ion power of the ERP-VTL/VFL lift trucks offers fast charging, zero tailpipe emissions and no off-gassing in battery charging or maintenance processes, along with lower energy costs compared to fossil fuels and lead-acid batteries. The trucks’ key ergonomic benefits include an open space design that increases the operator’s freedom to position their feet and facilitates easy entry and exit from the operator cabin. Stability is also improved with a repositioned center of gravity that enhances drive quality and improves truck handling in corners. These features can help to increase operator confidence and performance.

Onboard charging solution allows lithium-ion powered equipment to charge from standard 120- and 240-volt electrical outlets, enabling more operations to leverage electric forklifts Hyster has announced product of the year honors for its onboard charging solution, with Plant Engineering magazine recognizing the solution with a bronze award in the electrical, power, and lighting category. Available on several counterbalanced Hyster® forklifts with integrated lithium-ion battery power, the onboard charging solution allows trucks to be charged using standard, commonly available electrical outlets, rather than requiring dedicated higher-capacity charging infrastructure. “Onboard charging helps address a major challenge that has prevented some operations from taking advantage of lithium-ion power,” says Josh Eby, Global Product Manager, Hyster. “The flexibility to simply plug into a common electrical outlet makes electric forklifts a stronger fit for a much broader range of applications, and this recognition by the readers of Plant Engineering further validates our approach to making electric forklifts more accessible.” The onboard charging option is available on several Hyster lift trucks with lift capacities ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 pounds. This charging flexibility makes lithium-ion-powered forklifts a stronger fit for applications with intermittent charging availability, like agriculture and construction, or lower-hour applications that do not require fast charging, like retail and light manufacturing. It also enables businesses to rent electric forklifts without having to alter their electric infrastructure, and even enables recharging via generator when power is unreliable or unavailable. This onboard charging option includes a charging cable with a 240-volt 50-amp connection, adaptors for both 240-volt 30-amp and 120-volt 12-amp plugs, and an out-of-the-way storage bin located to the left of the seat for all cables and adaptors. Depending on the forklift model, operators could expect to get about one hour of medium-duty usage from as little as a 40-minute 6kW (240-volt) charge or a two hour and 40-minute 1.4kW (120-volt) charge. The addition of the onboard charging option does not affect the ability for units to charge quickly via typical offboard chargers.

Navigating the Challenges of Industry 4.0 Implementation in Manufacturing

The manufacturing industry is undergoing a seismic shift with the adoption of Industry 4.0, an integrated approach that leverages automation, data exchange, and AI to create highly efficient and interconnected smart factories. While the benefits of Industry 4.0 are undeniable—enhanced efficiency, predictive maintenance, reduced downtime, and improved safety—the road to successful implementation is fraught with challenges. From a high-level perspective, Industry 4.0 is not simply about adopting new technologies; it is about orchestrating a holistic transformation. This transformation requires the seamless communication of machines, software, and humans across the manufacturing ecosystem. While AI-driven automation is a key enabler in achieving Industry 4.0 objectives, AI alone is not enough—companies must integrate it within a broader strategy that aligns with their existing operations, while also ensuring they remain cost-effective. Barriers to Industry 4.0 Adoption 1. Integration with Legacy Systems One of the primary hurdles in Industry 4.0 adoption is the integration of new technology with existing legacy systems. Many manufacturing plants, particularly those built decades ago, were designed with manual labor in mind. Their processes, infrastructure, and operational culture are often incompatible with cutting-edge automation solutions. For instance, factory layouts were not originally designed for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to move seamlessly between stations. Many factories designed decades ago, even as recently as the 1970s, were designed for manual labor and don’t easily accommodate automation. These older facilities often have imperfect floor conditions with undulations and wear, requiring adaptable automation solutions that can still operate effectively despite these challenges. Successfully retrofitting a facility for automated workflows, without disrupting ongoing operations, requires intentional planning, sourcing scalable solutions, and adopting flexible technology. 2. Data and Connectivity Challenges A cornerstone of Industry 4.0 is the ability of systems to communicate in real time. This necessitates robust data infrastructure, integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution systems (MES), and connectivity that allows for predictive analytics and process optimization. Without seamless data flow, manufacturers face a cascade of problems: crippling inefficiencies, misaligned operations, and forecasts riddled with errors. Imagine a production line grinding to a halt because an AMR isn’t communicating with the ERP system, or a shipment is delayed due to inaccurate inventory data. These are the real-world consequences of failing to integrate automation effectively. Successful Industry 4.0 adoption is not just about individual pieces of technology—it is about ensuring seamless communication between all systems. 3. High Initial Costs and ROI Uncertainty While automation solutions promise long-term savings, the initial investment can be a significant deterrent. Many manufacturers hesitate to commit to Industry 4.0 due to concerns about ROI timelines and the financial feasibility of large-scale transformation. This is where innovative business models are proving essential in lowering the barrier to entry. One such approach gaining traction is the “Robot-as-a-Service” (RaaS) model. This offers a solution by allowing manufacturers to implement automation without heavy upfront investments. This subscription-based approach ensures that businesses can realize efficiencies without bearing the full cost of capital-intensive automation projects from day one. For example, instead of purchasing robots outright, a manufacturer might contract with an automation provider to move 100 carts from point A to point B in eight hours for a fixed monthly fee. Companies like Ati Motors, leveraging their deep understanding of robotics and automation in manufacturing environments, are at the forefront of offering RaaS solutions, enabling manufacturers to experience the benefits of automation with greater financial flexibility. A US customer saved approximately $1.5 million annually after investing $500K-$800K in an Ati Motors solution. 4. Workforce Adaptation and Cultural Resistance Beyond technical and financial barriers, the human element presents a significant challenge. Workers accustomed to manual tasks may resist automation due to concerns over job security and the uncertainty of adapting to new workflows. For example, a line worker who has performed a specific task for 20 years may be resistant to change. Implementing Industry 4.0 effectively requires a cultural shift within the organization. Studies, such as those conducted by McKinsey, suggest that for every dollar spent on automation, an equivalent investment should be made in training and upskilling employees. Successful manufacturers recognize that automation enhances efficiency and protects jobs by making manufacturing sustainable and competitive, rather than eliminating them. By supporting employees to transition into more strategic and less repetitive roles, companies can foster a positive environment for Industry 4.0 adoption. Incremental Implementation: The Key to Success Rather than overhauling operations overnight, many companies achieve better results by gradually integrating Industry 4.0 technologies. Brownfield projects—where automation is implemented within existing factories—require a phased approach to navigate unique challenges effectively. For instance, in forklift-heavy environments, companies often begin by automating specific tasks, such as material transport between fixed stations, while retaining traditional forklifts for loading and unloading. This approach directly addresses safety concerns associated with forklifts, which contribute to approximately 400 deaths per year in the US. By restricting forklift operations to loading/unloading areas and using AMRs for movement between points A and B, companies can significantly reduce risks and repurpose manpower. As automation demonstrates its reliability and efficiency, additional phases can be introduced, steadily advancing the factory toward full Industry 4.0 implementation. The Role of Flexible and Scalable Solutions Flexibility is essential for successfully implementing automation in manufacturing. Companies that rely on rigid, off-the-shelf automation solutions often struggle to adapt to the complexities of their unique production environments. Instead, manufacturers benefit most from automation systems with adaptable software and seamless integration capabilities, allowing them to work within existing ERP and MES systems without requiring costly infrastructure changes. Owning the core technology stack—including fleet management software, ROS, and mapping software—allows for greater flexibility in customizing solutions to fit specific manufacturing environments. This IP ownership provides several key advantages, enabling seamless integration into existing workflows, even in older facilities, and making Industry 4.0 adoption more viable. With complete control over its technology stack, businesses can remain agile and even swap sensors as advancements occur; Ati Motors, for instance, was the first to deploy a 3D LIDAR for navigation in AMRs. Scalability is another critical factor in automation

The recently launched Combi-CB70E earns global recognition for its ergonomic design, performance, and sustainability at the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards 2025 Combilift has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award for Product Design 2025 for its Combi-CB70E, high-capacity, electric-powered multidirectional forklift, developed to meet the needs of heavy-duty, long-load handling in more sustainable ways. The Red Dot Award, one of the most internationally renowned design competitions, recognises excellence in design quality and innovation, and is no stranger to Combilift’s exceptional vision to shaping the future of the Commercial Vehicles Industry. This award completes a hat trick for Combilift who previously won a Red Dot for the Combi-WR and ‘Best of the Best’ for the Combi-CB4. Combilift’s Combi-CB70E impressed the international jury with its new ergonomic design, environmental credentials, and ability to enhance operator comfort and productivity in demanding industrial settings. Martin McVicar, CEO and Co-founder of Combilift, commented: “We are delighted to receive our third Red Dot Award this year for the Combi-CB70E. Our design and engineering teams have been striving to provide solutions that are not only functional and safe but also reflect excellence in industrial design. Our customers increasingly demand electric alternatives that don’t compromise on performance, and the CB70E is exactly that.” The multidirectional Combi-CB70E is a 7-tonne capacity electric counterbalance forklift, specifically designed for handling long and bulky loads in confined or challenging spaces. Equipped with Combilift’s patented Independent Traction Control System and large elastic rubber tyres, it provides all-terrain capability while maintaining zero-emission operation. The spacious gas strut suspension cab and floor to ceiling glazing offers enhanced visibility and comfort, while the Auto Swivel Seat– which automatically swivels 15 degrees to the left or right, depending on the direction of travel- ensures optimal ergonomics and comfort for operators, even during extended shifts. This Red Dot recognition comes in an exceptional 11 months of success for Combilift, which has also received multiple international accolades for its products and leadership, including Product of the Year and Ergonomics Award at the UKMHA Archies Awards, as well as Design Team of the Year and Industry Leader awards from the UK’s Engineering & Manufacturing Awards.

Machine IQ telematics and other emerging technologies’ robust security features offer smarter, safer equipment protection Bobcat Company is spotlighting National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month by raising awareness of the growing issue of equipment theft in the U.S. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) observes National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month in July to call attention to vehicle theft and urges owners and operators to take preventive steps to keep their vehicles and equipment safe. In April, the American Rental Association reported that equipment theft is an astonishing $100 million-a-year crisis for the equipment rental industry alone. In 2024, Neuroject reported that heavy equipment theft costs the North American construction industry between $300 million and $1 billion annually, representing one of the most significant financial burdens for construction companies. “The frequency of equipment theft has created new challenges on the job site,” said Garrett Maurer, director of digital product management at Bobcat. “The good news is that operators and construction business owners can do something about it. With Bobcat Machine IQ and similar telematics software, operators can track their machines’ current location and history, enact geofencing with custom parameters and establish machine curfews. These are great ways to reduce instances of equipment theft and be in the know about your machines anytime, anywhere.” With the Remote Engine Disable/Enable feature in Machine IQ, operators can also respond to suspected unauthorized use by remotely disabling and re-enabling the engine through the Bobcat Owner Portal or Machine IQ mobile app—enhancing control and security anytime, anywhere. While there are a variety of factors that can impact the likelihood of equipment theft – such as worksite location or lack of adequate surveillance – enhancing security measures and improving asset tracking may help deter potential thieves. Here are some important steps to take if you suspect theft of your owned or rented equipment using Machine IQ: Verify location first: Log into the Bobcat Owner Portal to confirm your machine’s location with GPS tracking. Disable engine: If unauthorized use is in progress, use Remote Engine Disable/Enable to prevent further operation and potential damage to your equipment. Contact law enforcement: File a report with local authorities and provide applicable equipment details and GPS information. Contact your dealer: Notify your local dealership partner about the theft and police report. Request their assistance with documentation if needed. Notify your insurance company: Follow standard protocols with theft claims and provide proof from your dealership if needed. Emerging technologies are supporting construction business owners and operators in their effort to improve machine security, reduce risks and protect valuable assets. National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month is a great opportunity to keep these insights top of mind.

Cyngn secures $32M in funding, partners with NVIDIA, and relocates to a larger facility to drive growth and innovation in autonomous vehicle solutions through 2027. Cyngn issued a letter from the CEO: Cyngn Shareholders: Last week, Cyngn completed a $32 million capital raise, fully utilizing our shelf registration. This funding strengthens our balance sheet and enables us to continue executing our growth plans without the need to raise additional capital in the near term. Our autonomous DriveMod vehicles are now operating in warehouse aisles and across factory floors around the clock, delivering measurable improvements to safety, productivity, and labor costs. In recent months, we’ve deployed DriveMod-enabled vehicles at several new sites across industries, including manufacturing, automotive, logistics, and consumer-packaged goods. For our clients, our autonomous vehicles are becoming part of how critical work gets done and provide them a competitive advantage. To keep up with this demand, we’ve relocated into a new headquarters office in Mountain View that includes larger test and demonstration areas to support our product development and increase on-site selling activities. Similarly, our collaboration with NVIDIA has helped us move faster. Isaac Sim is a high-fidelity simulation environment that enables us to bring new capabilities to market safely, quickly and affordably. We remain committed to advancing the next generation of industrial autonomy. With 23 patents granted to date, our growing intellectual property portfolio reflects the depth of innovation happening across our engineering and R&D teams. As we scale, we will continue investing in the core technologies that differentiate DriveMod and position Cyngn as a long-term leader in autonomous vehicle solutions for industrial environments. We are also increasingly harnessing advanced generative AI and AI agents across our R&D, product development, and customer-facing tools. These technologies act as a force multiplier, enabling our teams to work more efficiently, iterate faster, and unlock new capabilities without a proportional increase in resources. By integrating AI into our workflows, we’re giving our developers the tools they need to move quickly and cost-effectively, accelerating innovation across the company. We now have the resources, the technology, and the market traction to focus entirely on execution. Our goal is simple: convert momentum into scale, and do it with discipline, precision, and long-term conviction. Sincerely, Lior Tal CEO, Cyngn

Noblelift’s Malaysia-based customer Ban Ngai Rent (BNR) will this month take delivery of its 1000th Noblelift scissor lift. This milestone has been reached in just 12 months, as BNR, a sister company of Kuala Lumpur-based Ban Ngai Engineering, was launched in March 2024 and took delivery of its first Noblelift scissor in June 2024. Since launching last year, the company has already expanded its fleet to 2,200 MEWPs and has ambitious plans to further increase that number rapidly at its locations across Southeast Asia. The company already has operations in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. BNR is actively exploring opportunities to expand its footprint into Singapore and Indonesia, with plans to establish a presence in both markets within the year “Our ambition is for BNR to be one of the top 3 regional providers of powered access in South East Asia,” says Dato’ Ong Joe-U, owner and Managing Director of parent group Ban Ngai. This foresees a steady increase in the fleet, and Chris Chin, BNR’s Sales Director SEA Region, is clear that Noblelift’s Access Division “will play an important part in this growth, we already have every model that Noblelift produces in our fleet”. BNR is actively pursuing market leadership by enhancing customer value through investments in parts and fleet management systems, telemetry data solutions, and delivering a ‘Wow’ customer experience “We are proud to partner with BNR as our South East Asia regional distributor,” says Noblelift Sales Director Amy Liang, adding that “BNR has our full range of scissor lifts, from 6m to 16m working height. The dynamic and rapid expansion of BNR is truly impressive”. “BNR is one of the rising stars in the access rental sector and will soon take delivery of some of Noblelift’s first electric booms. We truly value the trust that BNR places in our product and our after-sales service and support,” said Noblelift Access Division CEO Tim Whiteman.

From bunkers to outdoor areas, for over 30 years, HUBTEX has been supplying tailor-made multidirectional sideloaders to armed forces worldwide. Under extreme conditions – from low ammunition bunkers to unpaved terrain – the vehicles ensure reliable material transport. With fully electric and hybrid drives, HUBTEX fulfils the increasing requirements for efficiency and sustainability in military environments. HUBTEX offers both standard and customised solutions for military intralogistics. “We have specifically qualified ourselves for the special challenges in military production and have been a reliable supplier to the armed forces in Germany, the USA, the UK, and Japan for over 30 years”, says Hans-Joachim Finger, General Manager at HUBTEX. The company fulfils the demanding criteria of DIN 2303 for defence technology products, underlining its high level of quality. Following successful certification in special quality and component classes, HUBTEX is therefore authorised to carry out particularly demanding welding processes with high safety significance. Such processes are also used in the manufacture of the ML 50 multidirectional sideloader, which has been adapted to the special requirements of the military environment. Forklift solutions for every application This is because the transport of long loads, for example, torpedoes or guided missiles, requires the highest level of reliability and precision, which the ML 50 can offer. Its robust construction guarantees a long service life and high availability, even under extreme conditions and irregular utilisation. The compact design also makes the multidirectional sideloaders particularly mobile and manoeuvrable, so that they can even be used in confined environments, such as low ammunition bunkers, without any problems. At the same time, the large elastic tyres enable safe driving on unpaved outdoor areas. This combination of compact dimensions, drive, and tyres makes the HUBTEX multidirectional sideloaders particularly suitable for special applications in a military context. Fully electric or hybrid – flexible drive technologies A special feature of the HUBTEX vehicles is the choice between fully electric and hybrid drive. The fully electric drive operates with low heat and noise levels, is emission-free, and therefore ideal for use in enclosed spaces. The hybrid variant combines the advantages of an electric motor with those of a powerful combustion engine: as ammunition bunkers are often spread over large areas, the trucks regularly have to cover longer distances. In an emergency, the vehicle does not require time-consuming charging, but can be refuelled quickly and easily. By offering a choice between the two drive technologies, HUBTEX meets the growing demand for environmentally friendly solutions in the military sector.

UniCarriers® Forklift, part of the equipment line of Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas (Logisnext), has announced a new strategic partnership with Mobinsa, a prominent player in the Mexico and Texas markets. This collaboration marks a noteworthy milestone for UniCarriers as it expands Mobinsa’s reach and service offerings to El Paso, TX, and Odessa, TX. As the new official authorized dealer of UniCarriers® forklifts in the region, Mobinsa will provide its customers with the best-in-class material handling solutions and unparalleled service support. In addition to the full lineup of products available in the Mexico market, Mobinsa will continue its commitment to exceptional customer service that sets a strong infrastructure designed to support the industrial bridge between Mexico and the Southern border. “We are honored to grow our network of authorized dealerships through this expanded territory,” said Niels Tolboom, Director of North America Dealer Sales at Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas. “Mobinsa’s dedication to customer service and their specialized services approach align with our mission to provide customers with the highest-quality material handling solutions and exceptional service.” With UniCarriers® Forklifts’ experience as a leading forklift manufacturer specializing in comprehensive customer support programs and with Mobinsa’s focus on delivering high-class service and a strong focus on customer satisfaction, the partnership is set to make a positive impact on customers in the West Texas region. The addition of Mobinsa as a dealer not only expands UniCarriers’ distribution footprint in the region but will also benefit end-use customers. Together, the two companies plan to develop a rental fleet that focuses on both short-term rentals (STR) and long-term rentals (LTR) for the territory. “We envision a strong partnership with UniCarriers, a company renowned for its quality products, strong business values, and diverse business background,” said Luis Gerardo Garza at Mobinsa. “We look forward to offering our customers top-tier products that meet their industrial needs.”
