Linde Material Handling launches the reimagined Linde Series 391-02 Hydrostat Truck

391-02 Hydrostat Truck

Linde Material Handling launches the Linde Series 391-02 Internal Combustion Counterbalance Truck, including models H16 – H20, with a powertrain enhancement, adding the proven Deutz LPG engine to its product portfolio line. This truck offers versatility on a new level with an exceptional driving experience customers expect with this updated truck. As business goals evolve and change, equipment that will adapt to agile environments is critical. In the past, operations have had to choose forklift trucks for specific applications and environments, which meant ordering multiple pieces of equipment. The H16 – H20 truck offers the optimal solution, building on its already-established compact footprint and capabilities by adding the proven Deutz LPG engine – this highly engineered truck strikes an ideal balance between robust performance and streamlined design. “The Linde Series 391-02 ensures a strong, fast, and precise power delivery with the Linde Hydrostatic Drive, Twin-Power Control, and Linde Load Control. This truck thrives in any environment and situation, including the most demanding applications, dusty conditions, and multi-shift operations,” stated Jena-Christine Lawrence, Director of Product Management & Product Strategy. “Although the H16 – H20 models thrive during challenging industrial demands, the minimal footprint easily navigates narrow aisles, retrieving and storing products on shelves and maneuvering tight corners while transporting goods. This versatile truck bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor applications and keeps operations effective and efficient.” The Linde Series 391-02, available from 3140 lb. – 4500 lb. capacity, is crafted with durable components to withstand environmental impacts. However, its thoughtful design also incorporates features of dependable confidence with the Linde Driver Assist, which works in harmony with the Linde Curve Assist. These technologies automatically reduce travel speed proportionally when cornering, reducing the likelihood of loss of stability while the operator focuses on tedious maneuvering. In addition to mechanical features that safeguard the operator, this series boasts a sleek, slim lift mast profile design that enables all-around optimal visibility, preventing unnatural, strained positioning. Relative to the unencumbered view, the structural design of the workstation keeps operators alert and comfortable. A low-entry anti-slip step enables easy access that leads to a spacious cabin, displaying ample legroom and adjustable seats and armrests for relaxed posture and excellent arm positioning. Lawrence added, “All of these features assist in lowering fatigue and discomfort while operating the truck. The truck’s movement also limits strain on the operator’s body with nearly vibration and shock-free operation due to the mast and drive axle being isolated from the chassis incorporating durable and maintenance-free neoprene mountings.” Having versatile equipment also means having the tools to count on that will keep an operation running continuously. Those characteristics include knowing the availability of equipment and anticipating planned downtime. The H16 – H20 truck continues the heritage of extended reliability with 1,000 operating hours and maintenance-free mounting axles and tilt cylinders for minimal downtime and decreased operational costs. Rapid diagnostics are also immediately available via laptop for on-demand truck diagnostics, keeping operations aware of potential issues. This powerful forklift boasts a hydrostatic transmission, resulting in lowered service expenses during regular maintenance and enhancing cost-effectiveness. In addition, scheduled downtime is efficient, with easy access to maintenance components. The hydrostatic transmission also eliminates the need for a differential, torque converter, and mechanical transmission gears. This design contributes to fewer mechanical components, reducing wear and potential points of failure. The hydrostatic service brake system is wear-free by relying on hydraulic pressure rather than friction components, enhancing longevity and reducing maintenance needs. The standard LEPS (Linde Engine Protection System) safeguards your investment by monitoring engine operational conditions. It promptly issues alerts and, when required, intervenes with alarms or implements speed reduction to mitigate adverse engine operational parameters. Monitored areas are engine oil level, engine oil pressure, engine temperature, engine coolant levels, hydraulic oil temperature, and air filter condition. Warning levels escalate from light signals and buzzers to reduced travel speeds. The Linde Series 391-02 is available in various models (H16 – H20), with a comprehensive range of standard equipment, additional options, and customer-specific solutions for maximum versatility.

Caldwell hires Berman, Schroeder returns

Caldwell Group logo

The Caldwell Group Inc. has made two significant appointments in Teddy Berman and Jay Schroeder.   Berman, regional sales manager, joins Caldwell as it’s first ever hire as a direct employee in a territory; until now, the company has worked via sales agents. Schroeder, western sales manager, returns to a business he left last March, with a focus on Caldwell’s RUD line of material handling and lifting devices. Berman brings over 10 years of sales and business development experience from leading companies such as Konecranes America. He will work primarily from his home office in South Carolina with frequent travel to customers. He will be spread across Caldwell, J.C. Renfroe, and RUD brands. Berman, who will cover the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee, said: “I came to Caldwell for the exciting opportunity to be a part of the organization’s growth, especially with their clear focus on the continuous improvement of the customer experience. The strong reputation of these three brands in the material handling industry is also something I look forward to representing and helping to build. “I’ll work hard to support both our distributors and end users alike, depending on the specific case requirements and project complexity. The wide-ranging product lines represent endless opportunities for new applications and solutions to make our end users’ operations safer and more productive.” Darrin Noe, director of sales and marketing, said: “Teddy is charismatic, bringing to the company a perfect blend of personality, energy, and technical ability. Significantly, he is our first hire as a direct Caldwell employee in a territory.” Schroeder will be laser-focused on the RUD line, further raising the U.S. profile of a range of rigging products that is already considered best-in-class in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Caldwell already partners with the RUD Group to unite their sales and marketing activities in North America for RUD material handling and lifting devices within a common organization. The RUD portfolio includes slings and lifting points for the most complex tasks for integration into almost any application. Schroeder said: “The reason I came back is the culture at Caldwell and the ability to go back to selling RUD products. They are the best lifting points in the industry, and they allow me to help customers solve their lifting concerns. I think the biggest challenge is to let the distributors and end users know that Caldwell has made a significant investment in inventory, supported by our in-stock program. “RUD is a high-quality, Germany-manufactured product, so it takes a certain type of company to be able to deliver it here in North America, keeping lead times short and stock levels high, close to the point of use. The timing is perfect to reintroduce RUD to the market with the emphasis on telling everyone we are here—and here to stay.” Noe added: “High-level technical knowledge on the RUD product is something we sorely missed after Jay’s departure. He has immediately stepped back in and helped our organizational efforts, with a sharpened focus on the broad RUD catalog.” Meanwhile, Caldwell has also recruited to several other sales-focused positions, as Noe enthused: “We are excited about plans for the year and ownership continues to invest in many facets of the organization. “In 2024, we are upping the ante for every customer-facing interaction, making sure distributors and end users find it easier to do business with Caldwell than any other lifting manufacturer. Assembling the right team is a critical piece of that mission, and Teddy, Jay, and other recent internal sales team hires, fully support that mission.”

Hyster introduces two new cost-effective integrated lithium-ion forklifts

1033HBC

Hyster Company announces the expansion of its integrated lithium-ion forklift lineup with the addition of the three-wheel J32-40UTTL and four-wheel J30-70UTL. The UTTL and UTL are both powered by a factory-installed lithium-ion battery and provide a new avenue for electrifying forklift applications with less demanding requirements in industries such as chemicals and plastics, third-party logistics and trucking. Available in capacity ranges of 3,200-to-4,000-pounds and 3,000-to-7,000-pounds respectively, the trucks are designed to help an even broader range of operations meet sustainability targets and productivity goals through the benefits of this advanced electric power source, including zero tailpipe emissions, fast charging times, consistent power delivery and zero battery maintenance. The trucks complement existing models in the UT series and create opportunities to electrify applications when doing so had historically been cost-prohibitive. “The counterbalanced forklift market is seeing an accelerating shift towards electric, signaling electrification and sustainability as priorities across industries and in materials handling in particular. Advances in motive power, especially lithium-ion, are the catalysts driving the transition,” said James Nielson, Senior Business Product Manager for Motive Power and Electrification, Hyster. “These new UT models deliver a competitive value that makes lithium-ion more accessible to more applications, without complex warranty or support limitations.” Hyster provides service and warranties on the truck, battery, and charger for maximum uptime, productivity, and customer satisfaction. The lithium-ion battery can fully charge in about two-and-a-half hours and opportunity charging allows the trucks to work for the majority of a full day. The trucks also offer several ergonomic features, including a low step height, a small, adjustable steering wheel, and a wide-view mast that helps maximize visibility and supports operator comfort. The Hyster UT line was initially launched in 2019 with a series of lift trucks powered by internal combustion engines. The series was further expanded in 2022 with several electric warehouse models and earlier in 2023 with multiple sit-down counterbalance lead acid battery-powered trucks.

We are pleased to include the AWS Supply Chain technology in our overall digital transformation strategy.” AWS Supply Chain is a cloud-based application that unifies data and provides ML-powered actionable insights, built-in contextual collaboration, and demand planning. The application can connect to existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain management systems without re-platforming, upfront licensing fees, or long-term commitments. AWS Supply Chain will increase focus on data-driven supply decisions by leveraging advanced algorithmic capabilities within a simple and intuitive interface. Carol Tesarek, Director of Customer Experience at Equipment Depot, adds “AWS Supply Chain introduces ML and predictive maintenance capabilities to our supply chain operations. This allows us to provide an even greater customer experience by ensuring our technicians are fully equipped during customer service calls, resulting in increased speed of service, decreased equipment downtime, and an improved customer experience.  I’m excited to witness the impact on customer experience, our technicians, and our entire process in the parts department.”

Toyota Material Handling’s sustained partnership with American Red Cross Gives Life to Community

Organizations introduce new state-of-the-art bloodmobile to support community Toyota Material Handling’s ongoing partnership with the American Red Cross continues to be a catalyst for good in communities the company serves through the introduction of a one-of-a-kind, co-branded bloodmobile unit. Toyota associates and community leaders gathered recently for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the organization’s Columbus-based headquarters to formally introduce the new bloodmobile, made possible, in part, by Toyota’s support. The state-of-the-art vehicle is fitted to accommodate four donors simultaneously, with an annual collection capacity of approximately 30,000 units of blood. The new bloodmobile is designed to account for COVID requirements and is the first unit in the United States equipped with solar panels, reinforcing Toyota Industries Corporation’s (TICO) Vision 2030 goal to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The state-of-the-art mobile blood collection unit will support the greater southern Indiana region.  “Toyota’s collaboration with the Red Cross reflects our culture of kaizen – or continuous improvement – while impacting countless lives throughout North America,” said Bill Finerty, Toyota Material Handling President and CEO. “This unique bloodmobile is the next step in our joint dedication to sustainably serving our communities.” “As a former ICU and emergency department nurse, I know firsthand the importance of giving blood,” said Terry Stigdon, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross. “This is a testament of the American Red Cross reducing our carbon footprint and part of our sustainability program. I thank Toyota Material Handling for coming alongside us to help us do this very important work while also doing what we can to protect and support the changing environment.” Toyota formalized its relationship with the Red Cross in 2018 in Southern Indiana. Today the partnership’s impact can be felt throughout North America as thousands of Toyota associates and dealers work together to create a nationwide network of passionate Red Cross supporters. The company contributes resources to aid Red Cross projects nationwide, including financial support, forklift safety and operation training, natural disaster relief, equipment donations and more. Notably, in the midst of Hurricane Ian’s devastation last year, Toyota took charge of assisting Red Cross community restoration efforts by donating the use of 43 material handling equipment units, and providing a $100,000 donation. In addition, Toyota associates sprang into action and donated 84 units of blood dedicated to victims of the disaster. Since 2020, Toyota associates have donated over 1,500 units of blood to the American Red Cross, impacting more than 2,500 lives. Throughout the year, Toyota supports the Red Cross through corporate giving and a heightened level of volunteerism. The company provides office associates 16 hours of paid volunteer time each year, while shop associates receive eight hours of paid volunteer time. A percentage of those hours are earmarked for the Red Cross, fulfilling Toyota’s mantra of “Helping People Carry the Load.” “At Toyota Material Handling, our dedication to the community is an integral part of our DNA,” said Tracy Stachniak, Toyota Material Handling Vice President of Human Resources. “It goes beyond our daily operations and extends to the very heart of the communities we serve. Our partnership with the American Red Cross stands as a testament to that dedication, reflecting our belief in giving back to the communities that have supported us for so long.”  “We are fortunate to live in a time and a place where the human resources can be brought to bear for life’s sake and for better health,” said Cindy Frey, President of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. “It is a real pleasure for the chamber to be a part of this dedication today.” Learn more about Toyota Material Handling’s unique partnership with American Red Cross and the impact on the communities the company serves by downloading the 2023 Toyota Material Handling CSR Report or by clicking here.
