From booth L100 at Intermodal 2025, the Trelleborg XP1000 and CX940 tires showcase how versatility, efficiency, and durability power high-performance logistics and port operations, maximizing uptime and reducing costs Local manufacturing ensures faster response to market needs, bringing high-performance tire technology closer to customers in South America while guaranteeing efficiency and cost-effectiveness across operations At Intermodal South America 2025, from April 22 to 24 on booth L100, Trelleborg Tires will showcase how its high-performance tires are engineered to enhance versatility and efficiency in material handling operations. Designed to support the evolving needs of the logistics and material handling industry, Trelleborg Tires provide exceptional durability, outstanding stability, and long-lasting comfort for operators. These tires are not only built for maximum service life, but also to reduce operational costs and minimize downtime, empowering businesses to boost productivity while ensuring reliability and efficiency at every stage of their operations. XP1000: meeting the demands of material handling in South America Launched in South America last year, the XP1000 tire has received a positive response, with high production volumes and increasing demand leading to an expanded range in new sizes. When it comes to managing maximum intensity logistics, the Trelleborg XP1000 tire has been designed for superior performance in terms of mileage, durability, fuel consumption, stability and comfort. It is the perfect tire to meet the challenge of today’s interlogistics jobs. Its special incorporated Pit Stop Line technology lets fleet managers know when to replace their tires, reducing unnecessary downtime and waste while improving operator safety. The XP1000 is produced locally and comes with an advanced tread designed for sustainable success: the lightweight tire features an innovative fiber compound made from recycled materials, saving 866 tons per year on new materials alone, while decreasing CO2 emissions by up to 110 tons per year. CX940: maximum resistance for intense port operations Intermodal South America visitors will see Trelleborg tire’s latest addition for maximum intensity port vehicles, like reach stackers: the CX940 range. With greater global demand bringing larger and larger ships to port carrying more and more containers, loading and unloading at top speeds with smoother handling and better endurance is key. The CX940 brings new power to busy ports, harbors and even heavy industry. Made with an extra robust casing and optimized tread design, the tire ensures high stability, excellent traction and superior load distribution. And, its wear-resistant compound reduces risk of cuts and punctures, maximizing tire lifespan so it outperforms even after long hours of moving materials. “Being able to respond quickly and effectively to the specific needs of the South American market is essential,” said Alessandro Sacco, Sales Director Trelleborg Tires in South America. “Thanks to our local production, we’re bringing top-quality, high-performance tires exactly where and when they’re needed. We’re not just supplying products; we’re delivering advanced tire technology built to match the pace and pressure of today’s logistics. Whether our customers operate in high-intensity ports or dynamic warehouse environments, they can count on Trelleborg Tires to deliver long-lasting performance, while ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness every step of the way.”

Attendees of The ARA Show 2025 had a lot on their hands. Before the tradeshow opening, talks on what the Future of Equipment Rental may entail started with April Rinne discussing “Leading and Thriving in Uncertainty.” Educational tracks followed the day after, including lessons learned, rental business strategies, and insights into leadership. Hosted by the American Rental Association, The ARA Show 2025 was held in Las Vegas from January 30 to February 1. The ARA Show 2026 moves to March 2-5 in Orlando, Florida. While the majority of exhibitors were found in the West Hall, one of the more unique features of the Las Vegas Convention Center is an outside location. Set just a short walk across the hallway in the “Diamond” lot; exhibitors had a chance to demo their machines live and stretch their lifts to height. The space included outdoor meeting areas, locations to allow attendees to find some much-needed reprieve by playing a round or two of pickleball or cornhole (bag toss), plus a massive tent providing some shade from the concrete desert sun. Inside spanned everything rental stores could think about providing – from events, technology, and software to equipment and more. The general session kicked Thursday off with welcoming speeches from the current ARA President, Jeff Crotto, ARA’s CEO, Tony Conant, CAE, and ARA Board President-Elect Robert Pedersen, with an entertaining keynote from CBS News Sunday Morning Correspondent David Pogue. Pogue walked us through the current state of artificial intelligence and explained some of the latest news (even some changes from the night before). We even had some fun with image and music generation. Making its official debut for the U.S. market, Magni announced its new rotator telehandler model TH 6.19 (3.6), which promises to be a game changer for rental companies. As the company’s most compact fixed telescopic handler, the compact design, advanced safety features, and performance should provide versatility for equipment rentals looking to maximize their fleet’s utilization. Even though it has a compact design, Magni spared no expense on the performance or comfort features. The pressurized cab includes standard A/C, heat, radio and Bluetooth connectivity, and more. One of JLG’s goals for their electric equipment is to match the duty cycle of their fueled-equivalent machines. Continuing at this goal, the company featured many of its more popular models for equipment rental and allowed rental professionals a first-hand look at their latest. Launched its EC6000AJ boom lift just a week earlier during World of Concrete (Jan. 21-23), its compact design allows it to fit two on a trailer, helping equipment rental transport significantly. It boasts an unrestricted platform capacity of 550 lbs. (750 lbs. restricted) with an up-and-over height capability of 27 ft. 1 in. Manitou featured two launches at their ARA 2025 booth. One is their entry into the scissor lift market with the SE1932 and SE2632 to add to their lifting offerings. In total, the company now has 26 different “lifting” machines. Using lessons learned from their other machines, Manitou’s scissor lifts feature an electric-drive system with steering in front for quick, precise operation. Manitou is known for smooth controls, and operators should find this to maintain continuous familiarity between machines. They are capable of both indoor and outdoor work, and both feature a basket capacity of 507 lbs. for job site versatility. The compact design, zero turn footprint, and standard extendable three-position working platform (up to 8 ft. 4 in. by 2 ft. 5.5 in.) make it extremely versatile in providing stable access in all applications. JCB launched a new backhoe loader at ARA 2025. The 3CX Pro is their top-of-the-line model featuring every bell and whistle you can think of. As quoted in the official release, “JCB’s latest backhoe loaders build on a legacy of innovation, offering solutions that empower operators to be more productive,” says James Gill, product manager at JCB North America. “These machines represent the perfect blend of advanced technology and operator-focused design, reaffirming our dominance in the global backhoe market.” One of the most essential things for any piece of equipment is the need for strong tires to support the work it needs to do. OTR knows this and announced their new LiftBoss A/T all-terrain tire for lift equipment, which will continue to fill out their product line for customers. The central portion of LiftBoss A/T is the same as other OTR tires; they’ve designed a new aggressive tread pattern.

As companies focus on streamlining logistics and optimizing operations, the demand for material handling equipment tires continues to grow. Choosing the right tire has become crucial in this evolving industry, where the performance of material handling machines is only as good as the tires they rely on. “The global landscape of factories, warehouses, and logistics facilities has transformed significantly in recent years, pushing us to adapt quickly,” says Alessio Bucci, Product Marketing Director Trelleborg Tires. “Tire manufacturers need to be ready to meet these new demands, providing solutions that are both innovative and practical.” The disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic prompted companies to rethink their networks, moving closer to consumers to ensure faster deliveries. At the same time, the surge in e-commerce has driven a boom in warehouse construction. These shifts have not only boosted the demand for material handling vehicles but have also highlighted the need for specialized tires to keep operations running smoothly. Today durability, wear resistance, and heat tolerance are top priorities, pushing tire manufacturers to innovate. This includes developing specialized compounds for specific applications and offering non-marking options for facilities that require cleanliness. As demands increase, the industry is constantly adapting to meet growing expectations. Adapting to changing needs: Trelleborg Tires’ XP tire range But how exactly are manufacturers effectively overcoming these hurdles? “Market solutions offered by tire manufacturers span from all-purpose, versatile options suitable for general use to highly specialized products for specific applications” continues Bucci. “Offering a diverse range of options in terms of intensity and compounds is key to helping operators face daily challenges in different material handling operations”. With this growing industry’s complexity, Trelleborg Tires has applied its expertise to develop the XP range, designed to provide the right solution for every intensity level. According to Bucci, “At the lower end, the XP700 is designed for low-intensity material handling operations that typically involve shorter cycle lengths and lower working times. Moving up the scale, the XP800 caters to medium-intensity applications, while the XP900 is suited for higher-intensity operations. At the top of the range, the XP1000 is specifically engineered for maximum-intensity applications in diverse environments such as large warehouses, where operations are super intensive with machines running continuous cycles, even across three shifts per day. These environments demand equipment that can handle maximum working time and cycle length, preventing overheating and ensuring tires’ durability. Additionally, during operations and complex maneuvers, stability and top cornering capabilities are crucial, providing superior traction and performance, while also ensuring comfort for the driver.” Customization to meet specific needs However, what sets the XP line apart is its vast array of compound options, allowing for customization to meet specific operational needs. “For every application, tires must be carefully designed and chosen to keep the material handling equipment running and reduce downtime for maintenance, while ensuring safety,” Bucci explains. The XP700, for instance, features a multi-purpose standard black compound, providing excellent performance both outdoor and indoor, with superior wear resistance and low rolling resistance. For facilities where cleanliness is a priority, the XP800 and XP900 come in a white non-marking compound, ensuring no marks on surfaces while maintaining durability and effective heat dissipation. The XP1000 range provides maximum adaptability, with specialized compounds like a conductive option to prevent electric shocks and a heat-resistant compound for high-temperature conditions. This versatility ensures that operators can maintain efficiency and safety across a variety of environments. “Minimizing downtime is crucial in today’s fast-paced logistics environment,” says Bucci. “That’s why we developed our Pit Stop Line technology—to give operators an easy way to plan tire replacements and avoid unexpected stoppages.” The Pit Stop Line technology is simple yet effective: as the tire wears, a prominent orange band becomes visible, indicating that 100 hours of service life remain. This feature helps operators schedule tire replacements accurately, reducing waste and avoiding downtime. The Future of Material Handling Tires As Bucci looks ahead, he notes that the challenges of the industry also present opportunities for growth and innovation. “Manufacturers must provide advanced solutions to help customers maximize their performance in all working conditions. They need to ensure that their tires are ready for the next generation of material handling vehicles and the intense work they will undertake.” The transformation of the material handling industry opens new avenues for tire manufacturers. As logistics operations become more complex, the demand for specialized, high-performance tires will continue to grow. Players like Trelleborg Tires are not just responding to changes; they are anticipating future needs, ensuring that their products are ready to support evolving logistics demands. “The future of material handling tires is not just about meeting today’s challenges, but about shaping what’s next. In this dynamic market, Trelleborg Tires is positioned to lead the way, supporting businesses with cutting-edge tire solutions that meet the challenges of today while preparing for the demands of tomorrow” concludes Bucci. As logistics evolve, the role of specialized tires will be more critical than ever in ensuring smooth, efficient operations across industries.

Hamilton Caster has introduced its latest innovation to enhance workplace safety —the Field Installable Toe Guard. Affectionately known as the Swiss Army knife of toe guards, this versatile solution not only enhances workplace safety by protecting feet from injury but also offers support for two brake styles—heavy-duty contact brakes and ergonomic brakes—and floor brushes, all of which are field-installable. Heavy-duty contact brakes ensure steady support for larger loads, while ergonomic brakes minimize operator strain and fatigue. Optional floor brushes sweep away foreign objects and debris during operation, protecting casters from damage and keeping pathways clear. These features enhance operational efficiency and contribute to a safer work environment, making this an essential upgrade for safeguarding employees across various environments. Constructed from robust 3/16” steel and finished in a sleek platinum gray, this toe guard ensures long-lasting durability and protection. With an industry-standard 1/2” clearance from the floor, the toe guard integrates seamlessly with existing casters, eliminating the need for drilling or modifications. Customers can opt to have the toe guard assembled onto a new caster or order it separately for easy installation on existing casters. This multi-purpose toe guard replaces Hamilton’s previous model, providing a more adaptable and customizable option available for wheel diameters 4” – 12”. “Our field installable toe guard is designed to significantly enhance safety without the need for replacing entire caster assemblies,” said Mark Lippert, president of Hamilton Caster. “Its customizable features allow users to modify protection levels to specific needs, ensuring comprehensive safety in various operational settings.” What truly distinguishes this toe guard is its versatility, offering a range of options to suit different safety needs. Key features include: Enhanced Safety: Made from 3/16” steel and designed with a standard 1/2” floor clearance to prevent costly injuries and protect workers Comprehensive Kit: Includes a replacement axle, 2 lock clips, and 4 nuts for a complete and hassle-free installation. Compatibility: Available in 8 different caster sizes, accommodating 4” – 8” diameter wheels with 2” tread widths and 6” – 12” diameter wheels with 3” tread widths. Customizable Options: Enhance functionality with 2 heavy duty brake styles that can be mounted on the front or back, and floor brushes “Staying true to Hamilton’s legacy of quality, our field installable toe guards are manufactured in-house, ensuring exceptional durability and faster delivery,” Lippert added. “This streamlined production process reduces lead times and enhances customer satisfaction.” For additional customization, upon request we offer a unique height-adjustable skirt, allowing adjustments up to 1” off the floor, tailoring the level of protection in special cases, such as up-slope travel of casters. Whether you’re seeking a straightforward safety upgrade or a highly customizable solution, Hamilton’s field installable toe guard is the ultimate tool for workplace safety.
